Freemasonry, "Making Good Men Better" In The Plains Virginia Since 1899
The Masonic Lodge at The Plains Virginia
was organized on a site near the present Post Office. The Plains Lodge U.D., held its first meeting on December 29, 1898, and continued to work "Under Dispensation" until the Grand Lodge of Virginia met in Alexandria Virginia on December 15, 1899, and issued the Lodge a Charter under the name of Cochran Lodge No. 271. On December 27, 1899, St. John's Day, Dr. H. R. Green, District Deputy Grand Master, constituted the Lodge. Alexandria Washington Lodge No. 22 performed ceremonies incident to the dedication of the Lodge building, September 3, 1904.

Any man who becomes a Mason
is taught a pattern for living - reverence, morality, kindness, honesty, dependability, and compassion. He must be prepared to honor his country, uphold its laws, and respect those in authority. He must be prepared to maintain honorable relations with others and be willing to share in Masonic activities.
Our Mission
is to teach and perpetuate a way of life that promotes the Brotherhood of Man under the Fatherhood of God and to assist Lodges to grow and prosper.
Our Vision
is to be the premier organization composed of men of integrity and character, who are honest, true to their word, have a strong belief in God, are devoted to family, charitable in their community, and courteous and helpful to each other.Â
